Ali Kazim's Watercolours

Untitled (Self portrait), 2011

An exhibition of the nominees for this year's Catlin Art Prize opens this evening at the Londonewcastle Project Space on Redchurch Street in London. I'm particularly keen on these watercolours by Ali Kazim...

Kazim was born in Pattoki in Pakistan, and now works between London and Lahore. He began his career as a circus-hoarding painter in small-town Pakistan before beginning to paint portraits. Last year he completed an MFA at the Slade in London. All the images in the series shown here are self-portraits.
